Welcome to Power Station

Power Station began in the depths of lockdown - and in the aftermath of our previous film Bank Job, where we purchased and blew up £1.2 million of local debt - with the question ‘'what could we do from where we live, with the people around us, to build power - of energy and imagination?’

Working to turn a street and local schools solar, Power Station is a scalable in-your-face prototype of community led power. Channelling Withnail and I and Ealing comedy the film charts the financial and emotional trials and tribulations of making change together.  From sleeping on rooftops to growing thousands of sunflowers and attempts at Christmas number one, community spirit and resilience are at the heart of this documentary.

It’s everything about it! The heart of it being the individuals involved and their drive , grace and spirit; the objective of energy independence; the project’s potential to change our collective thinking.

It is uplifting to be of something that has an immediate effect. I can see immediately the result of my donations as the fundraising is on a smaller scale. Usually i also support larger groups but it becomes swallowed up by the enormity of those groups ie Greenpeace and the issues they are tackling.

It is fresh, ground breaking, fun, and art fuelled - with the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of a whole street, seems foolish not to!

I watched a short film on Facebook about these 2 ordinary people who were fed up with the “Government” failing the majority of people, in almost every area and who decided to stop waiting for “them” to do something and just do it themselves. The film was so inspiring, so positive and has motivated me to contribute towards this amazing project. We’re on our own. Let’s do this. OURSELVES!
