JOIN the powerful membership

POWER begins on a terraced street in lockdown, an artistic practice embedded in our home place of Walthamstow and the need to answer the question ‘What can we do?’ in the face of the climate crisis.

In a project about the power of collective action, we built this learning and collaboration from the very beginning through our POWER membership site. Available to access for free but reliant on building a community of members paying monthly and yearly it contains all the behind-the-scenes episodes of POWER’s progress from door to door research to conversations with energy and economics experts and practical workshops. As independent artists and filmmakers pulling off an ambitious project of infrastructure art this is a vital source of both financial backing and community building.

Members become part of an active community sharing knowledge and resources in order to take action in their home places wherever they are in the world.

CURRENT ‘LIVE’ REGULAR EVENTS

As we move into the feature documentary film edit and focus our energy on this and the way it greets the world alongside building next steps locally we have honed our live membership offer to include the below regular events.

THE POWER HOUR

Each month we hold an informal members meeting to update on the progress of Power and hear from members about their own projects - it’s our village square where we compare notes, share tips and tactics and provided a general mutual support framework.

POWER STATION FILM CLUB

As independent filmmakers and artists we know there are many brilliant films out there that are not seen as widely as they really need to be. We host monthly online film screenings and filmmaker Q&As around the issues POWER STATION cares about. This began in 2024 with the film GAZA with many more amazing films on the way including:

MY EXTINCTION March 27 2024

BUILDING POWER - WORKSHOPS/EXPERT SESSIONS

As we work on next steps on this street we share research and connections in action. Expert workshops include Henrietta Dale of Repowering London on solar supply chains and upcoming events on civic/community organising collaborations with local government, district heat networks and community wind turbines - all things we push forward into action on the ground.

SOLARGRAPHY

Members who participated in a mass sun observation experiment received a solargraphy camera to record sun trails as the earth revolves around the sun. The images are mapped, distributed, and become part of the film.
